The above information is being posted on line to be of help to family researchers. The deaths of men listed above were voluntarily reported by some NYS G.A.R. posts to the New York State headquarters. This is not a list of all New York State G.A.R. members who died in 1906 - many active NYS G.A.R. posts at that time did not send in names, or this list would be longer. Keep in mind that membership in a G.A.R. post is not an indicator of a man's village or city of residence at the time of his death, and that a man may have served in more than one company or regiment. Names and dates were transcribed exactly as in the book - to maintain the historical integrity of these listings as published in 1907, no other names will be added, spellings or dates changed, etc.

We appreciate your conducting your own further research, by directing all inquiries and questions to a historian or historical society in the county where a man resided or served from, using a search engine to seek out information about specific G.A.R. posts, or ordering military or pension records from the National Archives.
